We live times of mass production, mass tendencies, mass religion, mass trends, etc. and as a consequence of this imposed constant generalization, people in general tend to find their own niche and adapt themselves to it seeking for a good adaptation and therefore "general" acceptance - creating a trend. With this piece we try to make a visual connection to this "adaptability/acceptance" mood, where one has to, many times, reject certain things in order to fit in a determined group. Having the actual and real hair that was shaved underneath each photografic portrait (opposed to the physical presence) marks a clear barrier and points out - metaphorically - that on the downward path to conformism and obedience there is a big risk of leaving behind what really defines one as an individual. Photographic portraits; Frames; Real hair samples. |
